Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, the original 2012 PC release used Games for Windows – LIVE (GFWL). However, the Steam version was migrated to Steamworks in 2015. So if you’re asking about an older/original release, it’s the GFWL version; the later Steam version is Steamworks.
